Pentatonix

Do you like pop music? Do you like singing with your friends (or at least by yourself because there's tons of apps that you can use and take a video of yourself singing :P)? Before you proceed reading, i must warn you to not judge these two-time Grammy award winning choir nerds. It's not "the Pentatonix", it's Pentatonix (get it right, you article writers/interviewers :P).

I am a huge fan of Pentatonix. They're an a capella band, and before you say something shady about a capella being boring and whatnot go and listen to them right now. You done? Good. You see, they have a wide range of music taste--from classical to electronic dance music or EDM-- and a wide vocal range, if i might add. Back then, they took popular music and turned it into something aca-mazing by adding their style to each song. Tons of youtube views and subscribers later, they have an all-original chart-topping album, although they composed original music with their producer Ben Bram before, this was a huge blessing for them and for the fans--Pentaholics-- too.

Do i sound like i'm a professional at writing this? I hope not.

Anyways, i love them a lot

Pentatonix captured my attention because it's a capella; you can basically do it without instruments. And if you're like me, i sing a lot and i'm a choir nerd, then you're probably adding them to your playlist--#shamelesspromo GO BUY THEIR SELF-TITLED ALBUM-- or listening to them while you're reading this--THEY'RE ALSO ON SPOTIFY, in case you're broke like me but you have internet :P-- or you're already learning their separate parts, which is fun by the way ^_^. Once you get your friends to listen to them and memorize each parts, you can sing (by Pentatonix) it with them.

Avi Kaplan, Kirstie Maldonado, Scott Hoying, Mitch Grassi, Kevin Olusola

So let me tell you about their album. I think, whatever mood you're feeling, a song in there will fit it. Whether you're missing that special someone who is far away from you (Misbehavin') or you just woke up and you're feeling happy and you want to match it with a song (Na Na Na) or you want to listen to someone singing you a lullaby (Light in the Hallway). Literally, anything. You can even listen to their album non-stop, that's what i do, don't judge me.

The reason why i love them so much is because they're so down to earth and they have a great relationship with their fans. Throughout their career, they've built this close relationship with us and also because of social media we can easily communicate with them. They've done livestreams, Q&A's in Scott and Mitch's youtube channel, Superfruit, they did a project in which fans can be part of their upcoming tour digitally. Although there have been a few 'fandom wars' and accusations from aggressive people, the Pentaholics always stand up for their idols and we stick together as a family. Because it's not a fandom anymore, we are a family.

So far, i'm waiting for them to announce when they are coming here to perform again, and when they do i'll cry because that's what i do :P . Anyways, i'll end it here and, don't forget to subscribe to Pentatonix's youtube channel. *waves hands goodbye*

Melanie Martinez

Okay, Melanie's voice is unique, and let me tell you, her ever-changing hair color is so cool. How about her songs you ask? Her songs tackle topics that are happening every day or something that people experience. There's a lot of metaphors and whatnot in every song. And if you watch her music videos, they show something out of a bubbly-happy-rainbow dream but the song contrasts to its music video. I like the creepiness in her songs because i'm all about that creepy vibe. Another thing i like to talk about is her album, Cry Baby.

Basically, it is about this character that, as Melanie says, is herself. She called her Cry baby. And this album is about how Cry baby started as being the cry baby she is and as it ends she becomes this strong creepy little girl. But being kidnapped by an ice-cream man and poisoning him (Milk and Cookies) didn't happen to Melanie in real life, just sayin' in case you're worried.

But don't get fooled by the titles of her songs in this album, they sound like something a child may talk about but if you listen, it may probably shock you, because that's what happened to me.

I think everyone can relate to her songs. I'm a cry baby myself so i totally understand what Cry baby experienced (Cry Baby), and another one of her songs, she tells the story of how "perfect" her family is (Dollhouse) or what their neighbors think of them. And because of plastic surgery being "in" she asks someone if is it worth changing your appearance (Mrs. Potato Head).

From her music video, Dollhouse.

The whole album is basically the life story of Cry baby, see for yourself folks.

Overall, i love the album and if only i'm not broke i would've bought that vinyl and play it on my nonexistent vinyl player :P .

*kisses*

P.S if you decide to buy her album, be warned that it has explicit content :)

Evanescence

Now, that you've read my past articles you might be shocked why i included Evanescence here. I'm not just that girl that's always happy and doesn't cry and have meltdowns. In fact, if you know me personally, i am that girl who's always laughing and being funny--i think--always. And now i'll talk about my dark side. Dun dun dun.

I describe myself as a goth, it is a subculture, and before you judge, goths aren't completely gloomy and always sad just like what you see in Tumblr, if you're thinking that then you're stereotyping and being rude. Anyways, back to Evanescence.

Amy Lee is their lead singer and as i remember she is a goth plus she dresses in a gothy way (sorry, i don't know the right term :P).

Why am i talking about goths though? *shrugs*

Okay, so i don't have a specific album to talk about because i don't know all their songs so i'm just going to base it off of what i listen to occasionally. Though i know most of their songs, i just don't know their whole albums altogether. Excuse me please :P

What i like about their songs is that it talks directly about something, also her vocals are so strong and i'm amazed at how long she can hold a note. I remember myself singing my heart out because i remember that at that time i was feeling a little heart broken (My Heart is Broken), and then one time i was feeling that i can do anything that i want (What You Want). And i use singing as a kind of therapy for myself to release my sadness when i think that i'm being used (Everybody's Fool).
From their music video, Call Me When You're Sober.

Some of you may know their songs, My Immortal and Bring Me To Life. Those were also the first two songs that i memorized. Their songs made me fall in love with them because i really like songs that deals or talks about experiences that people may have gone through. Plus, when i discovered them my interest in learning how to play the piano arose (from the dead XD).

I keep repeating the word 'songs' XD.

And that's it! I've told you about my different music tastes and how awkward i am :P. Thanks for reading ^_^.
